The Nursing Associate works within the sphere of nursing to provide a high quality of nursing care across the lifespan and fields of nursing. Working under the leadership of the Registered Nurse, the Nursing Associate assumes responsibility for their workload.

The Nursing Associate works as part of a team, delivering health and social care that focuses on the holistic needs of service users.

Main duties of the job

• To work as part of the community team delivering health care that focuses on the direct need of service users, within the home environment or appropriate care setting.
• To carry out specific clinical tasks and responsibilities as delegated by registered practitioners.
• You will be part of an MDT, working with and supporting all members of that team both within and external to the directorate.
• Supervision and teaching of junior staff will be part of the role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post-holder will primarily support the community nurse team in delivering nursing care to clients with long-term conditions and complex health and social care needs across the community nursing and Intermediate Care Service. You will also support the team in the facilitation of early discharge from hospital where appropriate. The successful applicant will demonstrate a range of clinical skills and competencies along with excellent communication skills providing advice and information to clients and carers with the aim of maintaining them in their own homes enabling maximum independence and optimum quality of life.
