Job overview

The Children’s Ward compromises of Day Surgery Admissions, Paediatric Assessment and Triage, General Medical Care and also High Dependency Care. There is also a separate Children’s Outpatients Department too. We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Nursing Associate to join our friendly team, where we will support you with ongoing training and development.

The successful candidate will join an established, highly motivated team who are committed to delivering optimum care to children and young people aged 0-18, on the Children’s Ward/Outpatients.

The Children’s Unit is an expanding and developing service, with exciting projects and improvements on the horizon including an improved High Dependency Area and a redesigned Paediatric Assessment Unit, and expansion of Children’s Outpatients. Come and join the team and get involved!

The Nursing Associate will work to Registered Nursing Associate nationally recognised Code of Conduct and Standards of Proficiency.  They will work with the multi professional team and the Registered Nurse to assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical care in line with service and patient needs, as agreed with supervising clinicians. The Nursing Associate works independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing care and within all aspects of the nursing process.

The Nursing & Midwifery Council’s ‘Standards of Proficiency for Nursing Associates’ identifies the core components of the roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of Nursing Associates.  These pillars identify what nursing associates can contribute to the health and wellbeing of patients and service users, and apply across all health and care settings. Central to the provision of high quality person-centred care is the ability to communicate effectively, with sensitivity and compassion, and to manage relationships with people, making reasonable adjustments where necessary.
