Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7/8a ANNP to join our established ANNP team on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We are a regional level 3 intensive care unit with 42 cots, caring for the smallest and sickest babies across East Anglia. As part of our multidisciplinary team you will be involved and supported in providing a high standard of family centered care to the smallest patients within the hospital. In this unique clinical area we offer a full induction program. This is led by our dedicated ANNP team and will incorporate least 2 weeks supernumerary time, working alongside our experienced team members.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Assist lead nurse in provide nursing leadership within the neonatal unit, focusing on clinical issues for nursing staff within sphere of responsibility.
- Attend high risk deliveries.
- Provide clinical cover on the Neonatal Specialist Registrar rota
- Assess the health status of neonates through physical examination and diagnostic studies in consultation with Neonatologists and relevant members of the health care team.
- Perform selected and approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with ratified protocols and the Code of Professional Practice.
- Initiate and administer drugs and intravenous fluids according to agreed protocols.
- Independently take action in an emergency situation and consult with the Neonatologist appropriately when initiating treatment.
- Provide relevant clinical learning experiences in an approved environment in liaison with lead nurse.
- Act as a resource on neonatal care to neonatal nurses and junior doctors.
