Job overview

An exciting opportunity to join a well-developed upper limb and trauma service within the Major Trauma Centre at Salford Royal and elective work within the Northern Care  Alliance.

The weekly program is planned around an average of 10 sessions, which will include theatre, direct clinical care. The candidate will work in an established MDT weekly acute trauma including specialist LL trauma and elective LL and undertake patient related administration and supporting professional activities (SPAs).  Delivery of DCC will be across the NCA footprint. Elective sessions will require some flexibility as part of the covid recovery plan.

One in 8 weeks the post holder will participate as a member of a team of 3 consultants in a week of trauma delivering care at Salford Royal managing both Orthopaedic trauma, major trauma and acute patients.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will above all be a productive and cohesive member of the Soft Tissue and Arthroplasty team able to provide ongoing patient care.  The successful candidate should have:

  • Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.
  • Contribute to undergraduate, post-graduate and continuing medical and multi professional education activity including teaching as necessary.
  • Conduct appropriate duties in cases of emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
  • Multidisciplinary teamwork is envisaged as a key component of the working of this Trust and will involve Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) discussion with other colleagues.
  • Development of special interests that fit in with the Directorate needs and the strategic direction of the Trust.
  • Undertake ward rounds as appropriate.
  • Have an out of hours commitment to trauma patient management as part of an on-call rota.  Job plan review pending implementation of Major Trauma rota.
  • Provide evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting.
