Job overview

The Cambridgeshire Learning Disability Partnership (LDP) is an integrated health and social care service for adults with learning disabilities.  We are seeking to recruit a Music Therapist to a permanent Band 6 post.

The post is split to cover two of the multi-disciplinary teams, 15 hours in the Ely Team at the Princess of Wales Hospital and 12.4 hours in the South Cambridgeshire Team in Papworth Everard.

The successful applicant will be a vital part of an established Arts Therapy team, comprising both Art and Music Therapists.  They will be an integral and active member of the East and South multi-disciplinary team, two of the five teams for adults with learning disabilities across Cambridgeshire.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic  Music Therapist to be part of our motivated team.  You will have experience relevant to working within a community based multi-disciplinary team supporting adults with learning disabilities.  As an autonomous practitioner you will manage a specialist case load under the guidance of a specialist Arts Therapist.  You will be providing assessment, therapy and monitoring of individuals and  groups with a range of mental health and emotional difficulties and providing support for their carers.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive team of Arts Therapists.  You will be employed by the NHS and work closely with social work colleagues from Cambridgeshire County Council.  You will have the chance to participate in the planning, development and evaluation of learning disability services including contributing to defined projects.  Our service emphasises the importance of regular clinical and management supervision and has a clear on-going commitment to continued professional development and training.

  • To participate in the delivery of a specialist Arts Therapy (Art or Music) service under the guidance of specialist band 7 Arts Therapist and the Lead Arts Therapist by managing a caseload of clients with complex learning disability
  • To contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of learning disability services, including contributing to defined projects as delegated by the Lead Arts Therapist.
  • To provide professional supervision to other staff /students as appropriate including appraisal and professional development particularly mandatory training where appropriate.
  • As an autonomous practitioner to manage a specialist case load, providing assessment, diagnoses, treatment and monitoring of individuals identified needs for adults with a learning disability.
  • To participate in multi-disciplinary/ multi agency working within the LDP and with key partners.
