£45,504 - £60,199 per annum pro rata
NHS Highland is currently looking to recruit a Clinical Fellow in General Medicine/Surgery at Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban. The post will be fixed term for 1 year starting August 2026. The opportunity for a 6–12-month post is available.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in hospital specialty in one of the NHS Highland Rural General Hospitals; Lorn & Islands in Oban. You will gain wide experience in acute general medical/surgical/A/E presentations, working with consultant physicians, surgeons, Anaesthetists and Rural Emergency Physicians, in addition to in patient management. There may also be the opportunity to be involved in outpatient clinics. The medical ward has a 4 bedded high dependency area. There is also one consultant radiologist - the Radiology department provides 24/7 CT scanning. There is an active hospital educational programme which you are encouraged to participate in. The hospital library has a full-time librarian. The post of Clinical fellow will not attract training recognition from the Post graduate Dean but you will work alongside and receive similar experience to the other junior doctors in the hospital.
Oban is a wonderful town in which to live and work – it is surrounded by beautiful scenery and is close to the Highlands and a gateway to the Western Isles. It is well served by local amenities and just over two hours’ drive from Glasgow.
Successful candidates will have full registration with the GMC and hold a license to practice.
