Job overview

Motor Neurone Disease Care Centre Co-ordinator Do you really want to make a difference to people with Motor Neurone Disease (MND)? MND affects two in every 100,000 people and at any one time there are 5,000 living with the condition in the UK. It is a progressive, degenerative and life-limiting disease of the brain and spinal cord and its rate of progression can vary greatly from patient to patient.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual from a nursing or allied health profession background to join the MND Care Centre at Barts Health NHS Trust (BH).  MND Care Centre at BH is only the third such centre in London, and has been made possible by a grant from the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

This post is part of a job share and for 22.5 hours per week. The post holder would be required to work tentatively from Wednesday – Friday depending on need of the service, supporting the admissions of our MND patients and support one of the MND clinics.

Main duties of the job

To coordinate a seamless Motor Neurone Disease (MND) specialist service that is aimed at continuously improving standards of care for MND patients and their carers. This will be achieved through providing a single point of access to the service, facilitating multi-professional working, providing education and access to research and working in partnership with other services and organisations to develop MND services within the region.

This post is a job share for 22.5 hours per week and the job description requirements will be in collaboration with the other job holder.
