The Clinical Team within Microbiology and Virology at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey (Berkshire Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS), has a vacancy for a Secretary to work within the department supporting the clinical service. BSPS is a successful, progressive pathology network formed as a contractual joint venture between 5 trusts providing services to acute Trusts, primary and community care and private healthcare. This is a part time post of 22.5 hours and we are happy to offer school hours (4.5 hours a day for 5 week days) but would ideally like the successful candidate to work Monday - Thursday.
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and well-motivated candidate with appropriate qualifications and/or relevant experience to join the team with Microbiology and Virology for Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS). We are looking for a candidate who has secretarial/administrative experience and knowledge of medical/pathological terminologies would be beneficial.
Main duties of the job will include:
To provide full secretarial support to the three Consultant Microbiologists and the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC), including all aspects of administrative and clerical duties. To provide a fast, accurate typing service, including audio typing to meet the departmental standards of work.
To take formal minutes of meetings as required.
To liaise with senior and junior hospital medical staff to support the Consultant Microbiologists in their other responsibilities involving management, teaching presentations, PowerPoint presentations, audits, prepare detailed reports, minutes of meetings and service development.
To provide general secretarial support for all aspects of the Virology Laboratory administration and assist in the development of clinical and laboratory protocols and business plans.
