West London Forensic Service
Senior Forensic Social Worker (Band 7)
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Social Worker with an interest in, or experience of, forensic social work to join West London Forensic Service.
The service, part of West London NHS Trust, provides inpatient care for adults detained under the Mental Health Act who require low or medium secure settings. The Social Work Service plays a key role in supporting service users detained in these environments.
West London Forensic Service has been selected by NHS England to pioneer a new approach to supporting forensic service users in the community through the Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT). This team supports transition from secure services into the community, promoting recovery, improving quality of life, reducing inequality, and offering long‑term hope.
The successful applicant will join a skilled and supportive team, providing social work input to a low secure pre‑discharge service. Social Workers are fully integrated within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to statutory reports, Care Programme Approach processes, safeguarding, and carer support.
While experience in forensic or mental health settings is desirable, applications are welcomed from qualified Social Workers with relevant transferable skills from other areas of practice.
We are looking for applicants for a Senior Forensic Social Worker committed to working collaboratively with individuals and providers in the community to find positive and safe ways of working with people who use these services.
You will work as part of a service that will improve the lives of forensic mental health service users and their carers. This is a rare chance to be part of shaping a new service, providing opportunities to develop your skills and your career.
