Job overview

Please note for Welsh students, you must apply via Streamlining where all available jobs can be located

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the mental health and learning disabilities services for an experienced, motivated and forward thinking practitioner to join a busy supportive team based at HMP Berwyn.

We are looking for mental health practitioners with a real interest in forensic mental health and whilst past experience in a forensic setting is desirable, it is not essential. Our aim is to identify staff with a strong belief in recovery and who are comfortable working closely with forensic prisoners. This type of setting will provide challenges and it is important that you have good understanding of caring for patients with acute mental health backgrounds.

Please note if your application is successful and you are invited to interview, they will be held on site at HMP Berwyn to ensure candidates have an understanding of the environment. Requests for virtual interviews will not be accepted.

Main duties of the job

This service provides an opportunity to develop an integrated team-offering specialist mental health provision to service users within the custodial environment. This will include primary and secondary mental health care caseloads with whom they will work alongside to formulate risk management plans and care planning based on robust assessment of need.  This will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team based approach.

You will be approachable, energetic and resilient. You will be joining a team committed to improving the health and wellbeing of patients under our care and also supporting your professional development.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills within offender health and work closely within a multi-agency team to improve practice and overall experience for the service users.

We are looking for a good team player who has excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize and manage their time effectively.

In addition, we are keen to develop employees and offer excellent progression through various career pathways and in continuing professional development opportunities such as an MSc in Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
