We have an opportunity for an experienced, motivated and values‑driven Medical Workforce Manager to join our dynamic Workforce & Organisational Development Directorate.
This is a key leadership role, supporting the delivery of a high‑quality, responsive and forward‑thinking Medical Workforce service. You will lead and develop our medical workforce advisory team, ensuring the provision of expert guidance across Medical and Dental Terms and Conditions, recruitment, rota compliance, medical staffing processes and resident doctor rotations.
Working closely with the Strategic Head of Medical Workforce, you will help shape and deliver improvements to medical recruitment, reduce time‑to‑hire, and contribute to wider medical workforce strategies across the Trust.
Working on-site at least 3 to 4 days per week, managing a number of direct reports, you will play a key role in building a cohesive and supportive team culture.

Main duties of the job
In this varied and rewarding role, you will:
- Lead, coach and develop Medical Workforce Officers, Assistants and Administrators, fostering a supportive, high‑performing team.
- Provide expert advice on medical terms and conditions, recruitment processes, employment check standards, UKVI requirements and rota compliance.
- Drive improvements across medical recruitment, including the consultant AAC process, resident doctor rotations and induction.
- Promote digital solutions such as Trac, ESR, e‑Rota and NHS Jobs to streamline processes.
- Develop KPIs and ensure robust reporting to support workforce planning, retention, and compliance.
- Work collaboratively with HR Business Partners, Finance, Clinical Directors, the Bank Team, Job Planning Manager, Revalidation and Appraisal Manager and the Lead Employer.
- Contribute to recruitment and retention strategies, and support campaigns for both UK and international medical recruitment.
- Ensure policies, governance standards and employment legislation are consistently applied.

- Has significant NHS medical workforce experience and a strong understanding of Medical & Dental Terms and Conditions.
- Can demonstrate excellent leadership skills, with experience managing and developing others.
- Brings strong communication skills, resilience and the ability to influence at all levels.
- Has substantial experience of medical recruitment, employment checks, and managing rotations for resident doctors.
- Has the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
