To provide a comprehensive Medical Secretary and PA service to Consultants within the specialty, including co-ordinating meetings, optimising Clinic time, ensuring compliance with CCG requirements, producing clinic letters, other documents and dealing with patient and GP queries and concerns in a sympathetic and constructive manner. Where required, line management of Band 3 support secretaries, including mentoring for career progression and overseeing the progress of Apprentices.
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Secretary/PA to join our extremely busy department.
We are looking for someone with an approachable, helpful, flexible attitude who enjoys working as part of a team. You should have a good standard of English as well as good communication, administrative, and organisational skills and be able to work to deadlines. Previous secretarial experience is beneficial and medical terminology knowledge is also advantageous.
The main responsibilities will include consultant diary management, updating the department’s information systems and typing clinical correspondence. A keen eye for detail, typing accuracy, willingness to learn and the ability to pick up new IT systems are therefore essential, as is the ability to prioritise and multi-task. Good communication skills are essential as the role will involve contact with patients, GPs, and colleagues of all levels.
