Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust are excited to invite applications for a Medical Education Fellow who will support the teaching of our undergraduate medical students.  Post holders will be funded to undertake a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education.

Main duties of the job

  • The post is for 12 months, commencing the 05th August 2026 The job will combine clinical work (80%) and protected time for teaching (20%).  Out of-hours work is not a requirement of this role.  The post will suit a motivated junior doctor who would like to develop their knowledge and experience in the field of medical education.  When working clinically the post holder will work in medicine, at ST3 level, as a member of a ward based team at Harrogate District Hospital.  Candidates will have the opportunity to discuss any particular interests at the interview stage.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Develop own knowledge and experience in medical education

To contribute to the development of our Undergraduate Teaching Programme for  Medical Students

To teach and support medical students to meet the learning objectives of their clinical placements at HDFT

Working as part of a team to deliver inpatient medical care.

To maintain a high professional standard and actively participate in matters concerning patient safety and Clinical Governance

Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.

To share with colleagues responsibility for the day-to-day management of  patients under the care of the Medicine Team

Teaching and training of junior staff and medical students.

To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.

To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).

Working autonomously alongside a consultant on daily ward rounds for  inpatients.
