An exciting opportunity is available to join the Medical Education team coordinating activity for postgraduate doctors at MKUH.
The position is fulltime Monday to Friday with no weekend working. We are looking for a dynamic individual who has excellent interpersonal skills as well as first class IT knowledge.
You will be the first point of contact so communication is the key to success in this post. The post involves administration duties, minute taking at meetings, creating teaching programmes, face to face networking at educational events, as well as conference co-ordinating.
Previous NHS experience is a must, training will be given for the role, and development opportunities are available. Being able to undertake manual tasks, as some aspects of role can be physically demanding is a must.

The Medical and Dental Education Department is responsible for the provision and quality control of undergraduate and postgraduate medical and dental education within the Trust and community in order to improve the standards of patient care.
This role is to support the Head of Medical Education and their Deputy to support medical staff at MKUH with their ongoing CPD.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Medical Education Co-ordinator will:
- Work closely with the Head of Medical Education, the Director of Medical Education, Specialty College Tutors, Education and Clinical Supervisors, SAS Tutor, SASG doctors and doctors in core and specialty training.
- Support the Head of Medical Education in the delivery and quality control of the postgraduate medical and dental education as defined by the Learning and Development Agreement with NHS England Thames Valley
- Take the lead on the development of training and resources to support the training of Resident Dr’s across the Trust.
SAS Grade Doctors
- To work with DME and Head of Medical Education to organise and advertise relevant teaching sessions for SAS grades within the Trust.
- Process CME (Study leave) applications and claims using the study leave database.
Doctors’ Induction
- To support the DME and Head of Medical Education in producing a suitable induction programme to comply with the GMC standards of tomorrow’s doctor. This includes organising pre induction meetings, arranging speakers, catering, dealing with room bookings. Liaising with departmental College Tutors to ensure departmental inductions take place prior to junior doctors commencing in post. Keeping records of evaluations and attendance registers for audit purposes. Ensuring each department has a handbook to signpost junior doctors to appropriate policies and procedures within their areas of work.
- Liaising with Medical Staffing and any other relevant teams to ensure the safe and organised onboarding of resident doctors new to the Trust.
General Administration
- Manage and prioritise own workload
- Delegation and checking of work of other members of the team as appropriate
- To assist the Deputy Manager with the day to day running of the Academic Centre to ensure the smooth running of events taking place within the Centre
Intranet
- Responsibility for maintaining and developing the Medical Education section of the Trust intranet
- To engage with other departments and staff members to develop content
