This is a combined Simulation training assistant and administrative post requiring team working skills. The post holder will be required to assist the Technician and Training Co-ordinator with all aspects of the high fidelity simulation training courses that take place in the clinical simulation room at the hospital.
The post holder will assist and support the Technical and Training Coordinator in all aspects of the technical and multimedia work this includes working in clinical and non clinical areas.
The post holder will undertake Postgraduate Medical Education administrative duties.
The successful candidate will need to undertake the responsibilities of the role as outlined in job description and person specification.
General/Administrative 1. The postholder will work under the management of the Postgraduate Medical Education Manager to provide comprehensive and confidential administration service as required in accordance with the Trust and NHSE policies and procedures. 2. The postholder will provide an administrative support function to the administrators to work as a team using initiative, excellent communication skills and managing time effectively 3. To assist with the establishment of new courses and any other training that supports curriculum requirements. 4. To prepare course materials, accurately record attendance utilising spreadsheets and assisting with the collation of course feedback. 5. To provide assistance with OSCEs (Observational Structured Clinical Exams) courses where required and be available to assist with the setup of equipment, models and manikins in rooms and general support facilitation of when required. 6. To maintain accurate study leave records in accordance with Trust and NHSE policies. Managing Resources 1. Responsibility for the safe-keeping and maintenance of high-fidelity manikins, clinical skills equipment and computer based multimedia systems and components which include cameras, monitors and other equipment. To undertake and record regular health and safety checks. 2. Assistance in maintaining effective levels of clinical/non-clinical equipment and materials where appropriate. Technical and Multimedia 1. Responsibility for the setting up and transportation of equipment to relevant rooms; simulation models, manikins, virtual learning headsets and other equipment required for simulation and specialist training courses. 2. To assist with the preparation, planning and creation of realistic simulation scenarios working in conjunction with Faculty Leads. The set up and disposal of specific materials including animal tissue that may be required for clinical training courses following Trust guidelines and policies. 3. Live links – to set up multi-media resources required for Skype and other live streamed events, which includes the transportation of equipment in Theatres and other clinical/non-clinical areas in conjunction with Faculty Leads. 4. Filming and editing – assist with the design, creation and delivery of photographic and video resources for a wide range of clinical and non-clinical areas, ensuring that appropriate consent and approvals are documented as per Trust policies and that an archive is maintained. 5. To assist with the set-up and ongoing maintenance of online course evaluations and mobile devices used to support teaching activities. 6. Upload software updates to equipment and trouble shoot any issues with equipment and log-ins. 7. To support instruction, demonstration and training of equipment to clinical and non-clinical staff and students and train others to use, ensuring safe use of equipment and smooth running of service delivery.
8. To assist with the organisation of refresher training sessions for Simulation Faculty. 9. To be flexible in availability and working pattern to support the needs of the Simulation departments ensuring all training delivery is covered.
