The Division of Clinical Specialties is looking for a senior nurse to join the team as a Matron for Day Surgery, Elective Short Stay Unit, Pre Operative Assessment and Acute and Chronic Pain Management
The successful candidate will work with the specialty teams to provide professional and clinical leadership for all the nursing and operating department staff, ensuring the delivery of patient focussed high quality standards of care are delivered to ensure patient safety and a positive patient experience, supporting the delivery of national and local strategic and operational service objectives.
We need a motivated nurse who has credibility, is reliable, and can influence change and inspire the team. They must demonstrate that they have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with patients, colleagues and clinicians and has the negotiation skills necessary to make changes and implement quality improvement.
Applications are welcomed from Band 7 or above Healthcare professionals who are currently working within a senior leadership role and wish to further develop their professional and leadership career within a range of surgical specialties. Experience of theatre working is essential to support speciality specific focus on elective and emergency pathways.
You will be expected to participate in the Trust wide senior nurse 7 day rota support safe staffing oversight and providing senior nursing support across all sites.
The Matron team within the Division are a significant senior professional leadership group , responsible for professional nursing practice within the Division and the management of nurses within its’ area of responsibility.
Matron is accountable for the standard of nursing practice and the quality of patient care delivered by nurses
Matron will escalate any concerns relating directly to their designated group of services at the earliest opportunity.
Matron will support and participate in the Trust Duty Matron rota
Matron provides a high level of skills, professional knowledge and advice on nursing and quality to the Division Management Team.
As a senior nurse within the Division of Clinical Specialties, the Matron is a core member of the Division Management Team and participates in, and contributes to the corporate planning and performance management of the Trust.
Matron is expected to provide professional leadership and management in the delivery of a high quality, patient centred nursing care, and to drive vision and creativity in developing nursing practice within the Division, leading change and managing its’ impact on nurses.
