As a Trust, we recognise the importance of a positive workforce culture, individual job satisfaction and a healthy work life balance for staff. We would be delighted to welcome new members of the Maternity Support Worker team and strive to ensure they feel well supported and valued in their new role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Maternity Service provides Maternity Support Workers with a privileged opportunity to work with midwives caring for birthing people, babies and families.

The postholder will assist and deliver care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postnatal periods, providing physical, psychological and emotional care and support, within the remit of the role.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:   •    We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated and flexible individuals who work well in a high pressure environment and have recent experience of a hospital or community healthcare setting.

  • The role will include shift working, including night and weekend shifts.
  • The ability to work in a team, engaging and communicating well with others is essential.

A testimony statement from one of our current Band 3 Maternity Support Workers:

“Joining UHS straight from college was the best decision I’ve ever made. My initial plan was to stay for a year and get some experience in the industry, then apply to university. Four and a half years down the line I am still here, after being offered an amazing opportunity to progress my career; working part time and being funded to attend university. The whole team has been so supportive of my career progression and I’m excited to see where this opportunity takes me”.
