An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy labour ward team at Jessops, as a maternity care assistant (MCA).
The primary role of the MCA is to assist, support and work in collaboration with the midwife and the wider multidisciplinary team; to provide a safe and holistic approach to women centred care with the provision of care to women, their babies and families.
The MCA with undertake a range of activities and is responsible for contributing to the smooth running of the maternity unit utilising and upholding PROUD values.

Cleaning rooms.
Cleaning breastfeeding equipment.
Assist in the delivery of care to women and their babies under the direction of a Registered Midwife/Nurse or MSW including personal hygiene needs, ensuring diet and fluids are given when required, assistance to the toilet, ensure women are comfortable, safeguard the well-being and health of women and babies in their care reporting concerns promptly.
Report any faults within the environments to estates.
Escort women or babies to other departments when necessary.
Removal of cannulas and safe disposal.
Assisting with the application of thrombo embolus stockings.
Printing of patient labels and wristbands.
Ensuring the unit is kept stocked and tidy.
