Job overview

The Maintenance Supervisor will work as part of a team within the Estates and Facilities Department to support and promote the provision of a reliable, high quality, flexible and proactive customer orientated service that will manage all aspects of the Planned Preventative Maintenance system and reactive works in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Supervise the Estates workforce on a day to day basis and ensure work is issued in line with competencies and training to help ensure that the Trust is able to provide a well-maintained, clean, safe, accessible and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.

The Maintenance Supervisor will provide technical assistance, instruction and training/mentoring to Maintenance Craftsmen and Maintenance Workers on complex maintenance issues and also provide mentoring and job related training to semi-skilled staff and apprentices.

Supervise day to day tasks involving the maintenance of all types of plant, equipment and installations, including boilers, water testing and electrical system maintenance, fire alarm systems, batteries and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)

To develop, implement and manage a robust Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) system that ensures compliance with all associated HTMs (Health Technical Memorandums), HSE legislation and best practice guidance

To provide guidance, technical advice and support to the estates help desk in the prioritisation and allocation of reactive and planned maintenance tasks.

To ensure the efficient and effective use of the Trust’s resources with robust financial/budgetary management that is in accordance with the Trust’s Standing Financial Instructions (SFI’s). There will be the need to achieve any Trust targets for cost improvement, whilst attaining appropriate quality.
