Job overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Magnetic Resonance Physicists to join our dynamic and expanding MR Physics team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. We are advertising two posts:

  • one permanent (substantive) position, and
  • one 12‑month fixed‑term position.

Based trust‑wide across our acute hospital sites and Community Diagnostic Centres, you will contribute to a broad and stimulating MRI portfolio, supporting both NHS services and external partner organisations. Your work will have real impact from optimising clinical protocols and MR safety practice, through to supporting advanced imaging techniques and translating research innovation into clinical use.

We welcome applications from HCPC‑registered clinical scientists, final‑year STP trainees, and physicists pursuing equivalence via Route 2. Applicants who are not yet HCPC registered may be appointed initially at a lower salary band, with the opportunity to progress following successful registration, in line with Trust policy.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who are:

  • Curious and motivated to improve how MRI is delivered
  • Interested in innovation, service development and research translation
  • Confident communicators who enjoy collaborative, multidisciplinary working
  • Looking to build a long‑term career within a supportive senior MR physics team.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide MR physics and MR safety expertise across a multi-vendor MRI fleet.
  • Work collaboratively with radiographers, radiologists, clinicians, and industry partners to keep services safe and at the cutting edge.
  • Contribute to the training of the next generation of MR physicists through the Scientist Training Programme.
  • Support clinical service innovation and translational research activity.
  • Develop your own areas of interest, with support for professional development and progression.
