We are seeking two Locum 10PA Nephrology Consultants to support the existing nephrology programme for a six‑month period. The posts will contribute to inpatient kidney care, end‑stage kidney failure management, post‑transplant care, and general nephrology outpatient services. There is also a strong emphasis on developing the department’s research and teaching portfolios.
Main duties of the job
Posts will be expected to cover in-patients with consultant of the week model during which some of out-patient clinics will be reduced with majority of time dedicated to in-patients. Post holders will provide an on call renal service out of hours from home with 1 in 6 rota.
Outpatient activity includes two general nephrology clinics and one specialist clinic which may include looking after a transplant cohort depending on individual interests. Our usual clinic template is 4 hours with 2 new patients and 6 follow ups. Speciality clinics have 30 minutes follow up slots.
Post holders may participate in renal procedures, medical Tenckhoff catheter insertions and supervision of junior doctors carrying out procedures. There will be strong emphasis on teaching and training of undergraduates and postgraduates.
