An opportunity has arisen to join our team of enthusiastic, motivated and committed Consultants in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, contributing towards enhancing maternal safety within our unit. The post is a new role following approval of expansion of consultant body to provide gynae cover during on call. The successful candidate will have a strong obstetric focus, and should be able to demonstrate experience and interest in fetal medicine, preterm clinic and high risk obstetrics, understand and lead on fetal wellbeing and run CTG teachings. A complementary interest in ambulatory care and HRT would also be of advantage and lend support to the existing consultant body in their provision of both gynaecology and obstetric services
This Job will provide clinical services across Southeast London as we continue to expand our activity across Kent. We provide outpatient and inpatient care on the Queen Mary’s Hospital site in Sidcup, and will be expanding antenatal care in to the community as well. The provisional make-up of the post is described below, pending any changes that are agreed with the Clinical Director and the appointee, within 3 months of appointment. The successful candidate must be on the Specialist Register with the GMC.
The post is planned for 10 PAs.

The selected candidate should not take up labour ward on call responsibilities whilst on a different site or whilst doing any private sessions. Similarly you should not take on labour ward on call whilst covering another clinic.
The hours are calculated on the basis of averaged hours and have, on a rotational basis, a ‘hot week’ during which the appointment will cover the Delivery Suite and gynaecological emergencies. Although there will be a substantial out-of-hours commitment, this will be shared equally with the existing consultants on the rota.
Direct Clinical Care: 8.5 PAs
The PAs are calculated over a 42 week cycle in which the appointee will do 5.8 hot weeks (Monday – Friday 0830 - 1730). These weeks (or portions thereof) can be swapped but leave cannot be taken during them.
The on-call supplement will be 3%.
