Job overview

Applications are invited for a nine-month locum consultant post in Respiratory Medicine with an Anticipated start date of 03 August 2026, joining the Respiratory Department across the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital.  The appointee will contribute to the activities of the department on a rotating basis with other consultants, including care of general respiratory inpatients, Respiratory High Care inpatients, Hot Clinic, bronchoscopy/EBUS, and general respiratory and subspecialist clinics.

The department would welcome consultants with all sub-specialist interests; however, candidates with an interest in interstitial lung disease would be favoured, with experience in ILD clinics and MDTs.

Other sub-specialty areas that could be catered for within the department include bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, integrated care, asthma, pleural disease sleep and non-invasive ventilation, lung cancer and tuberculosis.

Main duties of the job

We have approval for 1 full time locum (10PA) post, but applicants wishing to work less than full time could be accommodated and are encouraged to apply. This post will include on-call duties as part of the Bristol Royal Infirmary on-call rota. Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their CCT and ideally have NHS experience.
