1 year locum consultant position in Neuromuscular Diseases

We are looking for a consultant experienced in Neuromuscular Diseases to join the Dubowitz Neuromuscular Centre which is a leading clinical and research centre specialising in neuromuscular disorders affecting children.

As a consultant in the Neuromuscular Department, the successful candidate will work across the range of new and follow-up patient clinics, including disease specific clinics, and day case assessment and treatment of SMA patients, notably with the nusinersen intrathecal program and Onasemnogene zolgensma assessments, infusions, monitoring and follow-up.

Main duties of the job

9 PAs of the post will be devoted to the neuromuscular component of the job and 1 PA will be devoted to the neurology component of the job. 9/10 PAs of this locum neuromuscular consultant post will provide additional support to the clinical service. 1 PA will be for Neurology service weeks. The post holder will form part of a multidisciplinary team, participating in general and disease-specific outpatient clinics, and day cases for the assessment, diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders and communicating with parents, local referral teams about investigation and management plans. Participation in audit and teaching is expected. The appointee will have a balanced job plan, which focuses on clinical practice, with opportunities to participate in the Dubowitz neuromuscular team teaching and training opportunities and to participate in the specialised MDT meetings including the weekly muscle pathology meeting and complex cases meeting.
