We are recruiting for a Locum Consultant in Fetal Medicine who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
This is an exciting opportunity for a full-time NHS Consultant appointment at the Medway Fetal and Obstetric Medicine Centre at Medway Maritime Hospital in Kent to enhance the tertiary-level Fetal Medicine and high-risk Obstetric services.
This is a multidisciplinary Fetal and Obstetric Medicine Unit and includes sub-specialist consultants in Fetal Medicine, Obstetric Medicine, Fetal Cardiology, and Perinatal Genetics who are supported by neonatal medicine and surgical services.
The aims of the post are to complement the high-quality Fetal Medicine clinical care currently offered, to provide support to the existing substantive Fetal Medicine sub-specialist and to support service development.
The remit of the post-holder will be to work within the multi-disciplinary team providing care for women attending the Fetal Medicine and Maternity services.
In addition to routine Fetal Medicine Clinics, there are a series of high-risk antenatal clinics focussing on management of women at risk for preterm deliveries, those at risk of placental disorders, hypertension in pregnancy and those with multiple pregnancies.
There will be an opportunity to take a lead on one these specialist clinics and develop care pathways and services not just for the hospital but regionally in the Kent and Medway Local Maternity System.
The Fetal and Obstetric Medicine Unit is an active academic and research unit and is the largest recruiter to National NIHR portfolio studies.
There are several national and international research studies successfully completed and currently running and there will be an opportunity to participate in ongoing research and develop new studies.
The job description will include Fetal Medicine and Obstetric commitments; there is no expectation to contribute to the on-call rota for the delivery suite.
The post will attract 10 programmed activities according to the new consultant contract.
Prospective candidates are welcome to contact the Clinical Lead for Fetal and Obstetric Medicine Unit, Professor Akolekar ([email protected] or 01634825110) for informal enquires.
