Job overview

We are seeking to appoint two Locum Consultant Neuroradiologists at Nottingham University Hospitals.  This post is to support the increasing local and regional demand for Neuroimaging during this time.

The successful applicants will share responsibility with 14 Diagnostic Neuroradiologists and 4 Interventional Radiologists for the provision of all aspects of Neuro imaging in our Trust with possible future expansion to the Trusts within the regional network.

Main duties of the job

This post will meet the needs of the expanding service within NUH Neuroradiology and Head and Neck radiology at NUH and help provide a specialist neuroradiology on call service at NUH and with weekend working. The post holder will be required to contribute to some activity for the surrounding district general hospitals.

The post holder will work as part of the Neuroradiology team at NUH and take part in all aspects of Neuroimaging services as appropriate including taking an active part in the Multidisciplinary team meetings. The team works flexibly to cover all parts of the Neuroimaging service. There are exciting plans in development to open a new Community Diagnostic Centre in the City Centre in 2025 which will be managed by NUH Radiology. There may be a requirement for staff to rotate to this location as part of this role.

The persons appointed will be required to contribute to the provision of Diagnostic services at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham Treatment Centre and the peripheral hospitals along with other colleagues on a rota. There is also a Community Diagnostic centre opening in the near future. The post includes sessions for reporting time for MRI, CT and possible US and plain film examinations to suit the candidates skills,  preference and department needs. There is an obligation to participate in multidisciplinary meetings

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Candidates must hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists or an equivalent qualification and must either be on the Specialist Register, or in possession of a CCT at the time of taking up the appointment.  However the department is delighted to entertain expressions of interest from individuals who will be within 6 months of attaining  CCT at the time of interview (anticipated in June) or have reasonable prospects of getting a CESR within 1 year.

The post will be primarily located at the Queen’s Medical Centre campus although the successful applicant will be required to provide sessions at the sites where we provide a Neuro Radiology service.

A successful applicant would be required to be part of a dedicated Neuroradiology on call rota, which will have a frequency of 1:8.
