Job overview

Locally Employed Doctors (ST3+) are experienced Doctors working in the NHS on local  contracts, typically at ST3 level or above. These Doctors are not part of the traditional  training pathway but are employed directly by NHS Trusts and contribute to various  clinical areas, often with a focus on developing advanced clinical and leadership skills.  They often have a mix of clinical direct patient care and educational responsibilities,  including supervision of resident doctors, and may contribute to service development.    This job would be mixed research and service provision with 3 clinics a week, teaching  of medical students at Scarborough hospital and research sessions with the head and  neck team.

Main duties of the job

The principle duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients within the trust area.  • To, at all times, comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a Doctor  • To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.  • To undertake duties as defined within the attached job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with your clinical director.  • To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of any Trust resources that you use and  influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.  • On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust’s Corporate Induction.  • To participate in the Trust’s statutory and mandatory training programme  • To be responsible for the clinical management of in and out patients under your care.  • To comply with Trust policies and procedures where appropriate.  • To ensure that all intellectual property rights of the Trust are observed.  • Detailed working knowledge of safeguarding agenda, and its relevant legislation, policy and guidance is required.
