Locally Employed Doctor - ST3 POCUS Fellowship - Fixed Term 12 months

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to be the inaugural Fellow in Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) for York and Scarborough NHS Foundation Trust.

The primary outcome of this 1 year post will be to:

  • -       Achieve accreditation in Focused Ultrasound in Intensive Care (FUSIC) Heart. -       Achieve accreditation in other FUSIC/FAMUS modules.

This modular syllabus will allow a motivated doctor to become competent in Thoracic, Abdominal, Vascular Access and peripheral venous ultrasound at the bedside.

Protected time will be given for POCUS skills and service development.

Study leave funding will be authorised for FUSIC courses if not already complete.

A highly motivated candidate will be supported to further develop their POCUS practice e.g. BSE Level 1 Echocardiography, this could include time in Cardiovascular and Radiology departments.

Main duties of the job

  • -       Assist in the development of POCUS practice at York and Scarborough, this would include the opportunity to assist in the organisation and delivery of a POCUS Course and a monthly POCUS Review and Education meeting. -       Develop a Quality Improvement project in POCUS. -       Seek opportunities for poster presentation or publication in POCUS. -       Gain further experience in Critical Care skills in a progressive and dynamic department.

This post will be ideal for those who have completed their initial specialty examinations i.e. Primary FRCA, MCEM, FFICM or MRCP and have some previous experience with ultrasound, however all candidates will be considered. Must have ICM experience to at least stage 1.
