Job summary

Main duties of the job

As the Operational lead - lead sonographer for the ultrasound department for STSFT, you will oversee the operational service for South Tyneside, Sunderland and peripheral sites, ensuring high quality patient care and experience for patients

You will have highly specialised skills and knowledge to produce and assess radiological ultrasound images and provide clinical diagnostic reports, which directly influences patient care and treatment

You will provide professional independent clinical judgements individually and for members of the team, working alongside Consultant Sonographers and Radiologists, being the point of support clinically when radiologists are unavailable.

You will be responsible for a multidisciplinary team of specialist senior staff conducting a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations and providing independent clinical reports.

You will be a nominated clinical assessor involved in practical ultrasound teaching and training of other staff.

You will function as an ultrasound clinical instructor link between educational institutes and the Department, to support post-graduate certificate and Diploma students in clinical placements.

You will actively-participate flexibly in seven-day working, providing weekend and extended working-day sessions.
