We seek to appoint an experienced Band 6 Nurse who must have experience in community working and working with children and their families. Ideally you will have a working knowledge of ADHD and Autism. Candidates will be supported to become competent in the management and review of children and young people with ADHD and supported to work in clinic settings as well as undertaking comprehensive assessments for a designated cohort of children from the neurodevelopmental pathway.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, a real interest and knowledge of ADHD and Autism and a commitment to working in partnership with other agencies and local communities to deliver the best possible outcomes for children, young people and their families.
The post holder will be contributing to a comprehensive initial assessment process. The role will include supporting the team to oversee the management of children with a confirmed or emerging diagnosis of a Neurodevelopmental condition. The service is currently undergoing an exciting transformation and internal remodelling which the post holder will be invited to contribute towards.
The post holder will be responsible for the supervision of other staff within the team and contributing to a positive team culture.
Car Driver/ owner essential. There will be an expectation to work across bases within Derby and Derbyshire as required.
Main duties of the job
- Assessing and interpreting the needs of this special client group, and determining the appropriate clinical actions to be taken.
- Working on own initiative with significant autonomy in terms of ‘on the spot’ clinical decision making.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to meet the comprehensive needs of children with ADHD, ASD and
- ther comorbidities.
- Manage risk, provide related advice and make necessary referrals to other agencies as needed.
- Use a range of standardised and non-standardised assessment tools to aid and inform care planning and evaluation.
- Formulate individual care plans based on the child’s identified needs, evidence based standards of care and working towards meeting the NICE guidelines.
- Initiate appropriate and timely consultation and / or referral when the clinical situation exceeds the nurse’s scope of practice and / or expertise.
- Provide written reports.
- Child protection – identify and respond to risks and maintain current training in this area.
- Undertake research and audit as necessary to the post.
- To maintain current NMC registration, professional development and Revalidation.
- To be able to travel a geographical area of Derby City and Derbyshire county.
- Respond to the needs of the transformation and partnerships within the service including Joined up Care Derbyshire.

- Teaching & assessing Qualification.

- Knowledge of early support processes in the City and the County.
- Post Registration experience of community working / working with school aged children with complex needs and their families.
- Experience of multi agency and multi professional working.
- Experience of analysing complex data and presenting this in a logical format.

- Receive and provide clinical supervision as required, adhering to the Trusts Standards.
- As required, support the practice of students and trainees from a range of disciplines by being available to share practice and knowledge.
- Monitor quality of own practice and that of the Service and participate in continuous quality improvement, via team meetings and participation in yearly Trust quality visits.
- Participate in the management of change to embrace innovations and developments in the forthcoming transformation within the team and its application to practice.
- To actively implement the Trust Values and Trust strategies in your daily clinical practice and evaluate the effectiveness of this through supervision, audit and appraisal.
- To develop, provide and receive appropriate training on varied topics and aspects relevant to the role.
- Demonstrate the efficient use of resources, whilst contributing to decisions surrounding team budgets.
- Demonstrate case load management for the service, ensuring time management and organisational skills to improve and prioritise waiting times.
