North Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust has two neonatal units one at Scunthorpe General Hospital and the other at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby both are Local Level 2 Neonatal Units with  Intensive Care, High Dependency Special Care and Transitional Care cots. The units care for babies over 26+6 weeks gestation and stabilises any baby under that gestation, to be transferred to a tertiary hospital/ NICU.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced neonatal nurse to join our team, and develop the role of neonatal education. Working also with the Neonatal Education lead at Hull Teaching Hospitals

The Neonatal Education lead will be responsible for contributing to the provision of a first-class service to patients by ensuring the Directorate meets education standards objectives and targets. This is a vital role that has a major impact on developing staff to embed safe culture and ensuring patient safety.

Main duties of the job

As the Neonatal Education Lead, you will be responsible for planning co-ordination delivery and evaluation of neonatal education and training across NLAG. The post holder will also work collaboratively with senior nursing and medical leader practice development teams to ensure education provision is aligned with national standards  regional network priorities and local service needs. There will also be working in partnership with educators from HUTH

You will support clinical and non-clinical staff in understanding and learning from incidents, promoting a culture of openness, reflection, and continuous improvement. A key part of your role will be to monitor and evaluate the implementation of actions, ensuring that lessons learned are embedded in clinical practice and systems to reduce the risk of recurrence.

You will also provide advice and training on processes, supporting the development of safe, high-quality neonatal care in line with national and local standards.

Within this role you will lead on education , working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will lead on any issues that arise within the department including Serious Incident Reviews and Root Cause Analysis. They will promote a non blame environment where education and patient safety are paramount to the service.

Essential skills include being a visible accessible leader, excellent communication skills always remaining confidential and empathetic at all times. This role includes the development and implementation of policies and procedures in collaboration with the team.
