An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic, self-motivated nurse to join the gastroenterology team at St Helier Hospital to support the inflammatory bowel disease service. This is an exciting and varied role, working within a multi-disciplinary team providing a high level of support to patients.
The right individual will have the opportunity to lead, develop and shape the service provided to patients within this speciality and be encouraged to share areas of good practice.
The role includes the planning, teaching and organisation of patients with complex needs as well as being a resource to all disciplines on matters pertaining to IBD; this includes activities such as audit, quality and risk management initiatives.
The successful applicant will have extensive experience in an acute setting, care of patients requiring Advanced Nursing Skills for their long term health conditions. Excellent organisational, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills are required for this role.

The IBD Clinical nurse specialist will play an integral role in the development of a quality driven service to all patients treated at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust and particular focus at St Helier Hospital. The CNS has a leadership role within the Trust and is responsible for the development of the innovative nursing practice within the IBD speciality. The post holder is expected to facilitate the development of other nurses in order to benefit patient care and to be an educational recourse to all members of the Trust wide multidisciplinary teams (MDT) regarding the provision of care. The CNS will help to promote and co-ordinate a seamless pathway of care from diagnosis though treatment for patients with IBD. Central to this role will be a collaborative approach with the MDT providing a comprehensive patient focused service.
