Alder Hey Children’s are recruiting a Lead Cardiac Physiologist with a proven track record in Electrophysiology (EP) and Education to join our small but growing team.

We are currently seeking forward thinking, dynamic, and motivated individuals to work at Alder Hey children’s Hospital. The post involves a combination of invasive and non-invasive procedures, cardiac rhythm management, Holter analysis, exercise testing and ECG.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead the cardiac physiology elements of the electrophysiology (EP) service.  The successful individual will be an integral part of the cardiac rhythm management(CRM) physiology team, responsible for the delivery of EP and CRM performed at Alder Hey.   They will lead on the development of EP and CRM training and education programmes both internally and externally.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

  • be expected to maintain a clinical workload, performing & reporting highly specialist & complex cardiac investigations
  • be responsible for the management & ongoing development of the EP service
  • contribute towards quality standards, culminating in the accreditation of the EP lab
  • develop education & training programmes for physiology & medical staff
  • develop academic relationships with HEIs to promote teaching within specialist area
  • develop & maintain relationships with relevant company representatives
  • represent the department & institution at national meetings
