Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, ambitious individual to join our team as a Ward  Sister/Charge Nurse on Ward F14, Complex Medicine.  This is a 12 months contract to cover maternity leave, and invites individuals keen to progress after experiences as a band 5 RN. The ward cares for acutely unwell patients in a fast paced environment and as such this role would suit someone who wants to develop their clinical and managerial skills.

You will be encouraged to develop your own style of leadership and help the ward develop a first class care environment. Alongside your role you will have the opportunity to attend external training courses in clinical skills and leadership with the potential for funding to be provided.

Main duties of the job

As a ward sister or charge nurse, you will be the responsible nurse in charge for the unit. You will also be responsible for assisting the ward manager with day to day activities such as:

Co-ordinating the flow of admissions and discharges

Liaising with members of the MDT

Ensuring the unit is appropriately staffed, raising any staffing issues or concerns

Managing staff including concerns

Dealing with concerns according to local and Trust policy

Supporting the nursing team in delivery of care

Responding to incidents in line with local and trust policy
