Job overview

The Emergency Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Trust Doctor (F3 equivalent) within the Emergency Department.

This post is 12-month fixed term contract to support individuals in their training and career aspirations with an expectation that your competencies will be reached whilst providing essential service within this fixed term period. This will be set with you at the beginning of your term with us.

The post holder will be a part of the Junior Resident rota and attend their departmental teaching programme sessions.

The candidate will be allocated an Educational Supervisor for their time within the department.

The candidate will be encouraged to develop a specialist interest to complement the existing interests of the department. The candidate will be expected to engage in continuing professional development, teaching, audit, and administrative duties.

Main duties of the job

Within ED

  • Maintain professional responsibility for patients coming to the ED by provision of safe, timely, high-quality care to patients
  • Keep patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) informed about their condition and involve them in any decision-making about their treatment
  • Undertake different roles within the department as required
  • Be responsible for the keeping of records and the provision of reports, the proper delegation of tasks and maintaining skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in teaching programs within the department
  • Maintain professional standards and comply in particular with the GMC’s guidance on ‘Good Medical Practice’ as amended or substituted from time to time

Clinical Governance

  • Be proactive in the Clinical Governance agenda for the department. This includes participation in audit and quality improvement projects, guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management as well as attending Clinical Governance meetings

Personal Development

  • Maintain the Trusts PRIDE Values
  • Participate in Continuing Professional Development and appraisal
  • To undergo regular revalidation as set out by the GMC
