We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Orthotist for a fixed term contract to join our dedicated in-house Orthotics department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a diverse and rewarding clinical role, offering experience across both inpatient and outpatient settings, and across a wide range of specialties.

Main duties of the job

As a key member of our team, you’ll join a supportive group of 10 Orthotists, 6 technicians, and 6 administrators. The department is equipped with  an on-site workshop with CAD-CAM scanner and milling machine, Rodin and iPad scanning tools, and access to the latest orthotic technologies.

We are an innovative and collaborative team, working closely with orthotic companies and clinical partners across the Trust to develop new, effective treatments for our patients. Most of your clinical work will be based at the Queen’s Medical Centre and City Hospital campuses, with possibility of occasional work in the community.

Multi-disciplinary teamwork is thoroughly encouraged and the trust has numerous multi-disciplinary and complex case loads. These include:

Diabetic Foot

Adult Foot & Ankle

Neurology

Paediatric

Spinal including HALO’s, Scoliosis, Trauma, Kyphosis and Cervical Conditions.

Applicants must be HCPC registered and preferably members of BAPO.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will manage a mix of inpatient and outpatient clinics:

1-2 sessions/week on inpatient wards

6-7 sessions/week in outpatient clinic

1 session/week dedicated to CPD (Continuing Professional Development)

Outpatient clinics cover a wide range of areas including paediatrics, neurology, KAFOs, diabetic foot care, and general orthotics. Some clinics are run jointly with other Orthotists or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
