Job overview

The appointment is to commence  in August 2026 for a fixed term period of 1 year.  The post does not award a National Training Number.  As this post is not recognised as a ‘training post’, full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required.

Posts are shared between the Department of Ophthalmology at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, the Health Sciences School, University of Sheffield. The post is ST1/2 level.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Duties:

To assist in Outpatient Clinics, Emergency Eye Centre, Wards and Theatre.

These posts will provide Doctors wishing to undertake future training in Ophthalmology with experience in Sub-Specialty Clinics, Sub-Specialty Ward Rounds and Theatres.

This experience could be used for ‘Credentialing’ or obtaining further experience for inclusion in Portfolio.
