Job overview
This post is in Genitourinary Medicine based at 56 Dean Street, Soho, to start in August. The Junior Clinical Fellow will work alongside other members of staff to deliver first class care to individuals presenting with STIs, HIV and other conditions and symptoms associated with sex, to make appropriate onward referrals and to review and manage abnormal results from clinic attendees (with support from senior members of staff as appropriate).

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work a 40-hour week at 56 Dean Street. We also welcome candidates that wish to work less than full time. There will be opportunities for training in other specialist clinics within the department if the candidate so desires.
There is no on-call commitment attached to this post; however, the post-holder may be required to do evening clinics and Saturdays on a rotational basis (with time back in lieu).
You will be expected to work alongside other healthcare professionals and local managers to ensure the efficient running of services.
Successful applicants will be assigned a clinical supervisor. Although the post is not educationally approved, the post-holder will have access to the same departmental educational sessions as their counterparts in approved training programmes. The possession of MRCP is not an essential requirement of these appointments. Junior Clinical Fellows are encouraged to involve themselves in audit, research and/or quality improvement projects.

All duties must be carried out under supervision or within Trust policy and procedure. You must never undertake any duties that are outside your area of skill or knowledge level. If you are unsure, you must seek clarification from a more senior member of staff.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Assessment of individuals presenting with genitourinary symptoms suggestive a sexually transmitted infection
- Diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections
- Management of individuals presenting for pre- and post exposure prophylaxis for HIV (PrEP and PEP)
- Management of individuals who require reproductive health services including emergency contraception
- Care for individuals living with HIV including management of abnormal blood results

Relations with other Departments
You will be expected to work alongside professional colleagues and local managers to ensure the efficient running of services and with other clinical practitioners from multiple disciplines.
The Directorate of HIV/GUM and Dermatology works closely with a number of other departments including general medical specialties (e.g. dermatology, neurology), cancer services, liaison psychiatry, substance misuse, gynaecology, children's services, maternity services, urology and ophthalmology. There is also liaison and joint research with the pathology departments.
