Junior Clinical Fellow in OMFS

Part time – up to 28 hours per week

Fixed Term, 12 months from 3rd September 2025

Salary Scales:

DCT 1 appointees - £50,538 per annum (pro rata)

DCT 2(+) and GMC registered appointees – placement on the SHO payscale £41,831 – 58,242 per annum (pro rata)

We are recruiting clinical fellows in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery who are enthusiastic and dynamic to work in our busy department. Applications are welcome from GMC or GDC registered candidates, and the post is available from 1st September 2025 for a period of 12 months. The posts are suitable for medically or dentally qualified colleagues who have an interest in OMFS and would like to keep in touch with OMFS patients while doing their second degree. A broad based knowledge and some OMFS experience in all aspects of OMFS is beneficial. The successful candidates will work as a member of the first tier of the OMFS team who are always supported by second and third on call.

The job plan is a fixed rolling rota shared with other Clinical Fellows and dental core trainees covering night and weekend on-calls.

On-call supplementation will be paid and rest days will be apportioned as necessary. Applicants must have full or temporary registration with the GDC under registrant type dentist, or have full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice.

The work of the department includes the provision of a service dedicated to the diagnosis and management of diseases and conditions of the mouth, head and neck including dentoalveolar surgery and oral medicine, salivary gland disease, head and neck and skin cancer, orthognathic surgery, and trauma.

The successful candidate will be afforded every opportunity to contribute to the development of a service in a setting appropriate to the 21st Century. The department has established relationships with ENT, the Public Dental Service, restorative dentistry, and Orthodontics. Dedicated operating lists with anaesthetists are in place.

The successful applicant will be part of a team consisting of 5 Consultants and 5 Specialty Doctors. Supporting staff include variable numbers of trainees at different stages in their training. Trainees rotate from the West of Scotland Post-Graduate Training Scheme. Our experienced nursing staff make a substantial contribution to the department's work.
