Critical Care in East Kent Hospitals is at an exciting period of redevelopment, having attracted national investment to deliver a critical care hub for Kent and Medway. We have recently moved to a new 24-bed purpose build unit which boasts excellent facilities for both patients and staff. This includes; - Hi-fidelity simulation suite within the ICU - Dedicated office and on-call rooms for junior staff
The department is approved for all stages of Intensive Care training and all clinical fellows will benefit from; - Named educational supervisor - Regular protected teaching which maps the FICM syllabus.

This post is designed for doctors who have completed foundation training who are looking to pursue a career in Anaesthetics or Intensive Care Medicine. They will gain experience in the management of critically ill patients in a supportive environment whilst improving their CV. Successful applicants will work under the close supervision of consultant intensivists and senior trainees. The department is very active in the following areas; teaching, research and point of care ultrasound and echocardiography. - Review of critically ill patients on the ICU, emergency department and hospital wards. - Admitting patients to the ICU under the supervision of the Consultant. - Ordering and interpretation of investigations. - Safe and effective handover between shifts. - Participation in audit, patient safety and morbidity and mortality meetings. - Organisation of multidisciplinary meetings. - Active participation in the teaching programme (which follows the FICM syllabus).
