I.T. Systems Manager - Band 6

An exciting Band 6 opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and ambitious I.T. professional to join the Critical Care and Major Trauma directorate in the role of I.T. Systems Manager.

Based at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, the Deputy I.T. Systems Manager will be responsible for the management of critical I.T. systems across the service, which will involve providing professional advice, support and guidance in the use of bespoke hardware and software packages. The I.T. Systems Manager will be responsible for project managing the implementation of new software systems and ensuring appropriate training is delivered for all users.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record of successfully managing complex I.T. systems and related projects, including previous experience of change management in large services. The I.T. Systems Manager will offer support, troubleshooting guidance and specialised training by working closely with all users and will provide a source of expertise for the various I.T. systems used by the directorate.

Main duties of the job

The I.T. System Manager will  be responsible for the development and implementation of the IT infrastructure across Critical Care and Major Trauma Directorate, provide business information, provide services for information dissemination and guidance on information security. The role will support clinical and scientific audits such as ICNARC (Intensive Care National Audit & Research Centre) and NMTR (National Major Trauma Registry).

The successful candidate must possess excellent organisational, problem solving and communication skills. They must be capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines and have the ability to confidently engage with I.T. colleagues across the organisation. The post holder will be required to work autonomously to drive forward their own programme of work and will need to use innovation to overcome challenges. Previous experience of NHS I.T. systems would be advantageous in this role and previous project management experience will be essential.
