We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced intestinal failure dietitian to join our friendly team working at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.
This is a permanent post to take the dietetic lead on the management of our HPN cohort. Previous experience in parenteral nutrition and intestinal failure (IF) is essential for the post and applications from those looking for part-time work are welcomed.
Queen Alexandra Hospital has a well established and long standing IF service providing support for patients across the region. The team of respected consultants, nurses, dietitians and pharmacists will be expanding and reshaping in the upcoming year and you will be joining at an exciting time in the service as it evolves to meet future challenges. The supportive MDT works in liaison with the surgical IF service based at Southampton and you would be part of a well-respected and enthusiastic team.
You will be based at the Queen Alexandra Hospital site as part of the Acute Dietetic team. A friendly team, we pride ourselves on our supportive nature. Part time and flexible working requests are welcomed and accommodated where possible.
As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, you will take the lead and demonstrate an advanced level of expertise within the highly specialist area of intestinal failure. You will play a key role in the nutritional management of this patient group and will provide advice, education and support to patients, carers and other health professionals.
In addition you will actively be involved in the trusts clinical governance programme and quality framework agenda by taking lead responsibility for ensuring continuing professional development, audit and research activities within this specialist area.
This role will also include line management and supervision of the band 6 surgical dietitian who will support the clinical responsibilities of this post.

Our department is actively involved in training student dietitians, and supervision of students from the University of Surrey and the University of Winchester is included within this role. You will be encouraged to take part in leadership training and will support junior members of the team when appropriate.
