The appointee will carry out their duties under the supervision of the plastic surgery consultants to gain an understanding of the breadth of the specialty. They will attend both trauma and elective outpatient clinics and theatres, review of post operative patients in clinics and the ward as necessary. The timetable will be adjusted as reasonably possible to meet the needs of the appointed practitioner to enable gaining exposure to the breadth of the subspecialty with a regular review.

Under the guidance of the Consultant Staff, the post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of elective and emergency patients as well on the Burns Unit.  The successful candidate will, subject to competency, have some independent operating, in the form of minor operating lists, for skin cancer and for trauma, as well as access to lists in the main theatres.  Experience in ward rounds, out-patients and operating lists will be obtained at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
