Would you like to consider becoming part of a growing Ophthalmology service at Wye valley NHS trust?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time permanent Imaging Lead post based at the Hereford County Hospital .We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated member of our team to work in Herefordshire.

The successful candidate will join a supportive and innovative team of imagers and Orthoptists. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team including, Imaging technicians, Ophthalmic nurses, HCAs and Consultant Ophthalmologists, including specialists in paediatrics and strabismus, Oculoplastics, Glaucoma and Vitreo and medical retina.

Your role will involve managing the team of 8 imagers and the technical equipment that they use. Several forms imaging will be required, as well as assessing vision in adults, these require excellent hand eye co-ordination.

You will be required to assess the results of the tests and escalate matters of concern to the Orthoptists or medical team as appropriate. As a lead for this role you will be required to supervise your team, monitoring competencies, appraisals, recruitment and absences.

Main duties of the job

A working knowledge of vision tests and previous experience of working in an ophthalmic setting would be advantageous. Experience of management would also be advantageous.

You should demonstrate skills in engaging with people and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

There are plenty of opportunities for training and development and the opportunity to learn new skills and achieve competencies within the ophthalmology services.

Training in all aspects of the role using departmental competency training packages under the guidance of the Orthoptists will be arranged, once the successful applicant is in post.
