We are seeking an ICU Technician Assistant to join the ICU Technician team. The successful applicant will provide technical support to the Intensive Care Unit.
Every day we strive to deliver excellent and compassionate care to our patients, validated by the CQC 2017 report who rated our ICU as outstanding.
The ICU Technician Assistant role is a development post and it is envisaged the successful candidate will be appointed at AFC band 4 and progress through our internal training programme to become a band 5 Technician following a competency based assessment.
The ICU Technician Assistant is required to assist and support the ICU multi-disciplinary team by carrying our assigned tasks such as stock management, receiving and storage of deliveries and ensuring that medical devices are serviced, repaired and maintained to a high standard. Teamwork is essential, so it would be expected the post holder would receive guidance and supervision from the Chief Technician and Technician teams who understand the equipment used and provide guidance and support.
The post holder will be working in a busy clinical environment and will be expected to cope with the pressures of a fast paced acute setting. The post holder will be required to undertake a range of shifts which will include weekends. Informal visits are encouraged as the role differs in ICU to other areas.
This role is subject to experience. It is envisaged the post holder will come in as a band 4 and be developed until such time they reach the competencies required to become a band 5 member of the team. If the post holder already has suitable experience it may be offered at the higher band. Both job descriptions are attached
