Job overview

We are looking for an experienced Band 6 HIV specialist Nurse to join the HIV service at North Bristol NHS Trust.

The role of the HIV specialist nurse is to support people living with HIV from their time of diagnosis and onwards, to optimise their health. The role will work alongside the HIV specialist nursing team to ensure the continued smooth running and ongoing development of the HIV specialist service which will include virtual clinics.

The HIV nursing team coordinate and review all new referrals into the service and are responsible for initial appointments, they also run the nurse led PEPSE clinic and injectable therapies clinic and offer treatment and follow up for any sexually transmitted infections. They also review patients in clinics together with Consultants and AHP’s.

Main duties of the job

To utilise the four pillars of practice (Clinical Practice, Education, Research and Leadership) to support the delivery of the Trust objectives through behaviours which demonstrate the Trust Values. To note, this level is largely clinically focused and is NOT underpinned by an MSc in Advanced Practice, though candidates with an MSc in Advanced Practice are still able to work at this level.

This role will involve autonomous, independent clinical practice under supervision, direct and indirect of the Senior Enhanced Practitioner within the service.

The post holder will act as a healthcare professional within the HIV and assist in the care provision alongside the senior Enhanced Practitioner if and when required.
