Are you a highly motivated and skilled speech and language therapist looking to advance their skills in autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions?
An innovative and experienced paediatric speech and language therapist is required to join a specialist regional service for children and adolescents with complex neurodevelopmental needs as part of the paediatric neurosciences team for the Newcomen Neurodevelopmental Service, Evelina London Children’s Hospital. Our service has a national and international reputation for excellence.
The post holder will take responsibility for delivering a highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and management service to children with complex communication needs and their families attending a tertiary neuro-developmental clinic. The post holder will work within an integrated multidisciplinary team with autonomy of decision making; using well-developed clinical reasoning and knowledge of the full range of neurodevelopmental conditions to provide highly specialist clinical input and support to the wider team and liaising both locally and regionally.
The post holder will be required to assist senior colleagues as and when necessary in tasks related to audit, teaching and supervision. The post holder should have an interest in current research and national policy and will be encouraged to maintain and develop this focus.
To provide a highly specialist assessment to contribute to diagnostic formulation in the field of speech, language and communication disorders in the context of neurodevelopmental conditions. The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner within the Tertiary/National Neurodevelopmental service and, where requested, the broader Children’s Neurosciences Service. The role will require close liaison and working in partnership with community therapy services and/or other appropriate agencies across the South East.
The post holder will act as a specialist adviser to speech and language therapists and other professionals within the Trust and across the Region in issues related to the clinical area.
The post holder will be required to develop, implement and evaluate specialist programmes of care, advice and support to children with complex neurodevelopmental disorders and their family. This role includes providing outreach within the home and school settings to support management of children in these settings. To participate in research and development in the specialist area and to support the development and quality assurance of the service.
To develop and provide training to meet the needs of children and young people within the service.
