Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated speech and language therapists to join our large Whittington Health team which includes specialists in many clinical areas.  You will gain new skills and experiences and support Barnet children and young people, their families, and schools.  We have a strong focus on working with families and achieving the best outcomes for the children and young people.

The roles are 12 month fixed term, Band 6-7 run through available for therapists looking to progress into a highly specialist role. We welcome applications from current Band 6 or 7 SLTs with some experience working in early years clinics or mainstream schools. Additional support and training will be offered for less experienced therapists. Once skills, experience and competencies are achieved, the post can progress to band 7 pay levels.

It’s an exciting time in Barnet. We are developing our Universal offers which run alongside the the ELSEC programme in Barnet  which identify and meet the SLCN needs of children and young people as early as possible. As part of this we have additional funding for these posts which will support us to reduce long waits for assessment and intervention in our early years and mainstream schools services.

2.    To assess, differentially diagnose, plan and implement therapy for children with speech, language and/or communication difficulties on own caseload and supervise others to do so.

3.    To work effectively with clients, carers, and colleagues around individual case management; providing advice, guidance and support as necessary and involving them in the planning and prioritisation of care wherever possible.

4.    To reflect on clinical practice; adequately identifying strengths & needs of clients, reviewing their response to therapy and providing evidence of sound clinical judgement.
