Job overview

Are you a highly skilled Physiotherapist with a passion for neurorehabilitation and stroke care? Are you looking for a supportive, forward-thinking team where you can make a genuine impact in the community?

We are excited to offer a 6-month maternity cover opportunity for a Specialist Physiotherapist (Band 7) to join our Community Neurorehabilitation and Early Supported Discharge (ESD) Stroke Team in Harrow.

This is a fantastic chance to bring your specialist clinical skills into a well-established, friendly multidisciplinary team that values collaboration, continuous learning and high-quality patient care.

As a key member of our service, you will deliver highly specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment for adults with complex neurological presentations, supporting patients across their recovery journey in community settings. You will also play an essential role in supervising and developing junior staff, rotational physiotherapists, rehab assistants and students.

If you enjoy autonomous practice, working holistically with patients in their own environment, and being part of a compassionate team, we would love to hear from you.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Band 6 seeking progression, or an established Band 7 looking for a dynamic and meaningful temporary role.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will:

  • Carry out highly specialist physiotherapy assessments and treatments for individuals with complex neurological pathologies • Use advanced clinical reasoning to create and deliver evidence-based treatment plans • Work in a range of community settings, including patients’ homes, clinics and local centres • Provide interventions such as manual therapy, FES, electrotherapy, patient education, home exercise programmes and functional rehabilitation • Support delivery and evaluation of the ESD Stroke service and wider community neurorehabilitation pathways • Gain valid informed consent and manage information sharing in line with legal and professional guidelines • Build strong relationships with a range of professionals including GPs, Acute Trust stroke teams, District Nurses, Wheelchair Services, Speech and Language Therapy, and Bedded Services • Work closely within the integrated multidisciplinary team, contributing to shared goals and smooth patient pathways

Working within the Harrow Community Neurorehabilitation Team gives you:

  • A supportive and friendly MDT environment • A role where your clinical expertise makes a real impact on patient outcomes • Opportunities for professional growth and shared learning • Autonomy over your caseload with support from highly experienced colleagues • A varied and rewarding workload across home, clinic and community settings • An environment that values communication, team spirit and high-quality rehabilitation
