Main duties of the job

The Lead Pharmacist for Rheumatology / Gastroenterology (including endoscopy),

Is responsible for leading, developing and evaluating the clinical       pharmacy service to these speciality areas.  Is responsible for providing highly specialist clinical pharmacy practice and being a pharmacy role model. Is responsible for providing highly specialist service  to Rheumatology, Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Service for in and outpatients and day cases e.g. bespoke Medicine Management schemes. Is responsible for ensuring that appropriate mechanisms are in place to promote high quality drug use, effective risk management, patient safety - clinical governance initiatives and adherence to trust policies and guidelines and advises on drug budget management in these areas  Provides support as required to the clinical pharmacy services, dispensary, production and medicine information services and medicines management programme.  Assists in planning and delivery of education and training within the pharmacy department and Rheumatology, Gastroenterology and other areas as appropriate.  Carries out pharmacy practice research and clinical audit in this area of practice.  Manages the pharmacy team working in this speciality area.
